The Zero Energy House

 

 

In February 2010 the Green Committee visited the Zero Energy house in Bellevue. The demonstration project -- which is still an actual house with people living in it -- shows that it is possible with today's technology to build a beautiful, comfortable and functional home that has virtually no carbon footprint.

 

Greening Prisons
The green revolution is everywhere, even in state penitentiaries. Criminal Justice blogger Matt Kelley looks at an innovative program in Washington State prisons where inmates are learning about alternative energy and sustainable farming, and prison officials are converting their grounds into Earth-friendly facilities. Moving our prisons toward ecological sustainability is a win-win, both for state infrastructures but also for prisoners who will be trained in an emerging and high-demand industry.
