SPIRITUAL GREEN

The Going Green at Unity of Bellevue Group Mission Statement:

We believe we are one with all of life and we accept our responsibility to improve the vitality of life on Earth by providing information and implementing practices, which support an environmentally sustainable society at Unity, at home and in the community.

The Going Green movement embraces the principles of the Unity Churches International Earth Care Team (UCIE), as expressed in the Path model:

• Pray and Inspire (worship) Prayer “holds the center” of the work to create a more sustainable planet. It is recommended that each step of the Path be accompanied by prayer. Inspiration comes through prayers and special services for creation.

• Vision, To be one of the leading and most effective voices in the Earthcare movement to create a sustainable society and a better world.

• Learn (education) After reaching a vision for the work, the next priority is learning. One of Going Green's major strategies is to be a learning resource for the Unity of Bellevue members.

 Earth Care story

Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, asked the question “Who will take care of the children?”

For Unity in the 21st century, we ask, "Who will take care of the earth?"

The goal of Going Green is to become an answer to this question for Unity of Bellevue.

We envision for and on behalf of Unity of Bellevue, that we collectively and individually take responsibility for caring for God's Creation through cooperative prayer, thought, and action.

We will help Unity of Bellevue develop and carry out practical, spiritual roadmaps to care for the earth.
